Status of OASIS Program

The Oakdale Junior High School after school program, OASIS, will cease to operate at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

The closure is because the program did not meet the required attendance targets mandated by the ASES grant, the funding source. Since 2019, the OASIS program has been unable to meet the attendance requirements due to limited staff and to reduced student participation. OASIS was expected to close after the 2023-2024 school year; however, it remained open because the California Department of Education (CDE) opted not to impose penalties for missed attendance targets for calendar year 2023. The CDE communicated and stressed that penalties would be imposed as of the 2024 calendar year. Per regulations, programs not meeting attendance targets receive a grant reduction and the new funding level significantly limits our ability to cover staffing and operational costs. 

This is an unfortunate development and a big loss for the OJHS community. Should an alternate funding opportunity arise, we will explore it and move forward accordingly.

The OASIS program is now full. All new registrations will be placed on the waitlist.  

• Program enrollment does not rollover. You must enroll your student every year. 
• Priority enrollment is given to students eligible for free or reduced priced meals, English learners, foster, and homeless youth.
• Students are enrolled on a space availability basis in the order that the applications are received.
